CFF Blockage Removals on the Tywi
Blockage Removal on the Myddyfi, Carmarthenshire, carried out by the Carmarthenshire Fisherman’s Federation.
Water flows were low despite there being two deep pools either side of the main log. You will see a grass covered island at the end of the main log – this turned out to be composed not of stone or gravel but deep, compacted baling twine and silage wrap – some of the wrap was full sheets. Please also note what appears to be slurry foam building up.
Again, timber debris was enveloped in wrap, stopping all flow.
The key timber was left in place, but the rest of the debris was cleared and the natural flow was restored. The good news was that the pools were crammed with fry and even some small eels were spotted.
