IFM Sea Trout Symposium, 12th & 13th September

The Institute of Fisheries Management will be holding a Sea Trout (sewin) Symposium at the Angel Hotel in Cardiff on the 12th and 13th September with their partners Wild Trout Trust and Wild Fish.

The event will be pulling together a large amount of research on this important fish species from across the UK, which like the Atlantic salmon, has been in sharp decline recently in most Welsh rivers. The objective will be to find ways in which this this increased knowledge could be turned into practical fisheries policy and action. The findings will then be used to inform a follow-up workshop to be held at Fishmongers Hall in London in November with selected key decision makers, where an Action Plan for the future management of sea trout in Britain and Ireland will be drawn up.

Chaired by Viscount Chris Mills (also Afonydd Cymru’s Chairman), the symposium will include a variety of speakers including Cefin Campbell MS (Senedd Species Champion for Sewin) and Natural Resources Wales’s Technical Fisheries Specialist, Ben Wilson.

The symposium is ticketed event and more details, including the itinerary and how to book a place can be found via the links below.
