Karen Whitfield is Director of Wales Environment Link, which supports a network of environmental NGOs to work collaboratively on environmental policy issues, building consensus and trust amongst partners.
As WEL Director, Karen provides strategic oversight of the organisation and organisational development, as well as representing the network at stakeholder meetings and advocating WEL policies to key decision makers. As well as a strong understanding of the key policy and legislative frameworks for the environment in Wales, she has experience of charity governance, fundraising, staff management and financial management.
Karen has a BA in English Literature, an MSc in Publishing and a BSc in Environmental Studies. She has previously worked for the Senedd Research Service Environment Team and the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Market Research Team. She is keen to bring her experience of charity governance, environmental policy work and an enthusiasm for the health of our freshwaters to an organisation that works proactively to improve the health of our rivers in Wales.”
